CHRISTIANS IN DELTA STATE HOLD’S MEGA PRAYER RALLY FOR PEACEFUL ELECTION

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Delta state Chapter held a mega prayer rally to pray for a peaceful general elections come February 16th and March 2nd 2019, with the Theme “Seek peace and Pursue It” (Psalm 34:14) the mega prayer rally which is scheduled to hold in two venues for Delta Central and Delta South that was held on 11th February 2019 at the Ughelli General Field opposite A Division Police Station,

Ughelli. While the second mega rally is expected to hold on Wednesday 13th February at the Government field by Delta line Bus Stop, Agbor. The Delta central event witness massive turn out of Christians and Christian leaders across Delta state from all denominations.

 

The events witnessed the presence of state and local government officials and a member of the Delta state house of Assembly in person of Hon. Eric Oharisi who is representing the people of Ughelli North in the Delta state house of Assembly, the Secretary to the state Government Hon. Festus Ovie Agas was also present, Delta state PDP chairman and some of his executives and a host of other dignitaries.

 

Highlight of the event was the arrival of the governor of Delta state in person of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. The mega rally fictured mega praise, worship and the ministration of the word from great anointed men of God, the first was a catholic priest in person of very Rev. Fr. Jesuovie P. Ogagavwodia where he spoke on the topic “seek peace and pursue it” he admonished the people to be peaceful in the forth coming election and pray God for His divine intervention in the coming elections. The second minister was Bishop Dr. J.M.O Arhavwarien who spoke on the topic all power belongs to God. He took his text from Psalm 63:11 where he admonished the people saying that power does not come from the east nor from the west but comes from God almighty and called on everyone to pray that, the God who have and control all powers to make everything work unto our good and bring to fulfillment our earnest desires. He reminded everyone that Delta state is a Christian state and we must identify and vote for those we know are Christians.

The third ministration of the word was from the immediate past chairman of CAN Delta state Rev. Gideon O. Oyibo he admonished the people to respect the ancient land mark. He called on Deltans not to remove the ancient land mark so as not to violate the equal right of the people. He said we have to respect the ongoing governing structure in the state where the whole zones have been able to rule for eight years and said if such privileges have been enjoyed by other governors from Delta central and Delta south we should also allow Delta North to enjoy their turn and allow Sen. Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to get the second term ticket and complete his second tenure.
The fourth minister was Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi, he spoke on the topic “when the righteous reign” (proverb 6:22) he said there are two kinds of people in this world they righteous people and wicked people. He said when the righteous and in authority there is joy and people rejoice because there will be peace and unity but when the wicked rule the people mourn because there will be injustice and hunger e.t.c he said in Nigeria and some other parts of Africa they see politics as a dirty game but not knowing that the church ought to take the lead in politics. He said there are too many wicked people in Politics that is why we are suffering and called on Christians to arise. He said there are two major political parties in this world they are JPP (Jesus Peoples Party) and DPP (devil’s people party). He called on everyone to stand with the righteous who wants to rule because it was high time the church says enough is enough. He said he knows and believe that Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa belongs to JPP and enjoined everyone to stand by him and vote for him.
The Delta state CAN chairman Apostle Dr. Sylvanus A. Okorote. Welcomed the state government and other officials who joined the Christians in Delta centeral and south respectively to pray for a peaceful and successful election. He said Delta state has been officially dedicated to our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and that the state government have made the Democracy day in Delta state a day of prayers and thanksgiving. He informed everyone present that the state government have supported CAN in completing the CAN secretariat guest house and also started the process to build a bigger CAN auditorium. He thanked the governor for his love and care for Christians in the state and called on everyone to stand and support him by casting their votes for him come March 2nd 2019.
Responding the state Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa appreciated the people for coming out to pray for the success of the forth coming election, he said voting alone cannot guarantee success of the election but that prayer is highly needed. He said his administration came on board at a difficult time and said paying primary school teacher’s salary became a big challenge but he promised them that he would clear the outstanding salary and has done that, he used the medium to thank everyone for their patience and endurance. He called on religious leaders in the state to help in the healing process in Nigeria as Nigeria needs divine healing and that true and perfect healing comes from God alone. He called on everyone to get connected to God Almighty. Archbishop Dr. Goddowell Avwomakpa JP the South-South CAN Chairman thanked God for the life of the Governor Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa that God will grant him victory in the forth coming elections.
